Jamie: I just purchased one of your lessons, “Andy’s Barn.” Just wanted to let you know how much I have learned from it. I put it to use in a new painting I started and I couldn’t believe how fast the painting has gone and how beautiful it is (even if I say so myself!)
I had never heard of the limited palette until just recently. Your lesson really helped me understand that concept. The painting really shows how using just 3 colors lets the colors blend and mesh together to make a wonderful picture.
When you walked me through how to use several photographs to plan the painting, I was very thrilled to see how that helped me in composing the painting. But, I think the most helpful part of the lesson was when you walked me through how to lay in colors establishing the darks, mediums, and light values first.
I was amazed how easily and quickly the painting came to life on the second step when I added the middle-light values to finish.
